It's been a few days since Ironman 70.3 Phils and I'm feeling really good. I'm not as sore as how I felt from my first half IM.
To give a run low down on what happened from Friday til the big day, here it goes.
Friday morning I wake up with a freaking cold and a slight fever. Who the F*$k gave this to me??? Must have gotten it wedneday night from one of the guys at the gathering. (only to confirm that one guy I was talking to had the flu..geeezzzz.)
Blast of Vitamin C, cold medicine and keep checking my temperature. Take a cold shower and check body temperature. Almost normal. Dang.. Flight in 4 hours and I feel crappy cause of a running nose. Not a good sign. Still have to pack my clothes. The bikes left at 3:30 am for CAMSUR with the support crew.
I decide to sit outside by the pool to get some fresh air as I figured this would help. Temperature now normal but still feeling a little crappy but it's time to head on out to my brother's place as I'm just cathcing a ride with him. We get to the airport early enough that we're able to grab a bite as we haven't had breakfast. Damn, it's freezing in this new terminal, NAIA 3. Bad thing is I forgot to bring a jacket and I'm wearing shorts and t-shirt. Only good thing is that I have that bonnet that I use for cold weather so I put it on. I go to the gift shop hoping to find a jacket big enough that would fit me. WRONG!!! This sucks. It's freezing in here. Maybe if I put on another shirt, it will help warm my body. Uh-oh.. now my cold had gotten worse cause of the cold temperature. Shoot... This is going to be a challenge keeping my snot from running down my mouth while in the plane. Passengers might think I have N1H1. Better wear a mask in the plane.
Plane takes off... nice view... 20 mins into cruise, we start our descent. Never knew it was this close. cool!!! Just arrived NAGA Airport. Stepping out of the plane, it was HOT but good for my cold. We're instructed to get into this bus with everyone else and they wisk us off to CWC, Camsur Watersports Complex. Only bad part of the bus ride was IT WAS FREAKING COLD again.
Check in time. They can't find my name where i'll be staying. I reserved 2 rooms. 1 for M.O.S.S TRI Team and the other for our crew. WTF. They keep asking me my last name and keep telling me "sir, are you sure you made a booking?". Patience.. patience.. I calmly reply, yes I am sure because my credit card has been charged and I received an email confirmation. (oh god pls dont ask for that email as I didnt bring a copy). Finally, I hear this "here it is sir. You're in the other cabins" My reaction, none. Please give me my meal stubs and my keys. But before heading back to our room, time to check in with Iron Man People for our race packet while there aren't that many people in line.
Good Morning. I'm Jose Amado L. Mamuric, individual competitor for the Ironman. She replies politely. Good morning sir. Is this your first time to do this distance? I said nope with confidence but I know its going to be a painful day on Sunday. My brother on the otherhand is asked to go to the event doctor just to make sure that he's fit. I should know. We trained together. But, better to be safe than sorry.
We make our way to our cabana. Quaint little thing. My bedroom is bigger than this but it will do. The three of us should be ok. First thing we do, ask the housekeeping people to remove the box mattress to make more space since one was sleeping on the floor. Hmm... TIme to send the staff into town to buy our supplies and a sleeping cot, extra towels, 2 pillows, blankets for our third member in the room.

It's been a while since I have posted anything. Sorry about that. I've been a busy bird with my real life and training for Ironman Philippines 70.3 this coming August 23, 2009 in Naga, Camarines Sur at CAMSUR Watersports Complex.
I'm nervous as hell but all I can do is compete the way I have been training for the past couple of months.
I'll continue to write when I get a chance. Until then.

Hello!! It's been a while since I have written anything in this blog. I've been quite busy with work, family and training. Ironman California 70.3 is coming around fast and my nerves are starting to get the better of me. Once in a while, I will try to push my training to see if there are any improvements but I know I have to save all that energy for the big day in April 4, 2009.
One thing for certain, my 10k run has improved from my previous run. Initially, my 10k run was timed at 1 hr 22 mins sometime in mid 2008. Today was a different story. I am proud to say that I clocked in at 1 hr 7 mins in today run at the Fort. I am indeed proud along with my run coach of the improvement. I still have a long way to go to hit m target of hitting sub 1 hour for my 10k. However, if I am able to keep this pace on my run during the Ironman California, I should be able to complete the run segment of 21k in 2 hrs 25 mins. That would be seriously awesome.
I have 1 full week of hard training then I tapper for the remainder til April 4. I have to watch my diet durin tapper period so i dont gain weight and waste all that hardwork. I think i'll be fine on my big day. I just have to stick to my planned heart rates.
The primary goal is to complete and finish this event. Should I be lucky enough to hit my target time, I am going to be extremely ecstatic and this will be a great boost for the Subit Triathlon in Subic Bay this May. The goal that time is to finsih in sub 3 hours for the Olympic Distance. The support that my wife and kids have given me has made my training this time much much easier considering the amount of training that I am doing.
I should give more details as I get more stuff on my training as I have no more stuff to write.
I have posted some of my run times in the events that I have done.

It has been a good day today. I was able to get some much needed rest. Tomorrow is going to be another great week of training despite the fact that my legs are still aching from the ride yesterday. It wasn't a long ride, only 50km but the gear settings was on the heaviest side so even on the uphill, I wasn't allowed to shift. That was the painful part.
I know that it is not going to get any easier as the ironman maintenance program will only last another 3 weeks then I go to my peak training program. It will be more time consuming and will require more patience. It will also be more painful at times but hey, it was my choice to get into this thing.
I would rather overprepare (if there's such thing) than under prepare and say "I should have done this and that" on the day of the event.

Good evening!
Today was a respite from my usual thursday kill day. I requested from my run trainer to pass todays running drills cause i have been really tired lately and have had late nights for school. It's not a good idea to push the body if you lack sleep. Tired, lack of sleep, physical, physical stress and the heat is a great recipe for a heart attack. So, I opted to do a long slow run tonight instead.
It is a good idea to listen to what your body is telling you. If it feels tired, rest. No reason to push since it is counterproductive. May get injured as well.
Tomorrow is swim day. Yahoo!!! Sounds like I get to rest but think again. The swim coach will make me do stuff that can just ruin my evening cause I'm too tired to go out. It's ok.
This is how I look at it. If I want to go up, I need to give up something. That is soo true.
